Ammonia accounts for 2% of GHG emissions, with demand set to triple to 700m tons by 2050 across agriculture and energy. Meeting this demand with classic green ammonia would require 20 new Haber-Bosch plants per year, and to scale electrolyser capacity and clean electricity to unfathomable proportions. Centeon makes these bottlenecks irrelevant. They have developed a unique bio-hybrid process for direct synthesis of green ammonia, using only air, water and electricity as inputs. The system is modular, and highly efficient as biology does most of the work.
